Environment Canada has issued a Rainfall Warning for the 88.1 myFM and WOW FM listening area, with up to 70 millimetres expected between Thursday and Friday.
A slow-moving low-pressure system is bringing long-duration rainfall across the region. The heaviest downpours are expected Thursday afternoon through Friday morning, with the risk of locally higher totals.
Drivers should expect pooling water on roads and in low-lying areas, making travel slower and potentially hazardous. Officials are warning motorists not to drive through flooded roadways and to allow extra time for travel.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local forecasts and check with area conservation authorities or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources for flood information. Updates and safety advice are available at Ontario.ca/floods.
The rainfall is expected to taper off Friday evening, but forecasters say soggy conditions could linger into the weekend.
