Lanark County residents passionate about community safety have a chance to get involved in policing oversight. The province is seeking applicants for two vacant Provincial Appointee positions on the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment Board.
The board works with the OPP Detachment Commander to advise on local policing services. It includes representatives from eight municipal councils, two community members, and two provincial appointees appointed by the Solicitor General.
Board members meet about 10 times per year and receive compensation through their municipalities. Applicants should be active community members with a general understanding of public safety issues and OPP board responsibilities.
Those interested can apply through the Public Appointments Secretariat by creating an account at ontario.ca/page/public-appointments and selecting “Lanark County OPP Detachment Board.”
Details about the board are available at pas.gov.on.ca
