Cornerstone Landing is celebrating a positive turn after a challenging year.
The local youth housing support organization faced a $120,000 budget shortfall in April when it did not receive an extension of its Reaching Home funding for rural and remote communities. The loss forced Cornerstone to make difficult staffing cuts earlier this year.
However, Manager Elle Halladay secured new funding sources, allowing the organization to restore two vital front-line positions. Thanks to her efforts, Cornerstone Landing is now welcoming two new staff members, Tracy Charette and Julia Orr, to the team.
The funding loss had threatened key programs that support youth experiencing homelessness across rural Lanark County.
With this new financial support, Cornerstone can continue offering essential housing and outreach services that many rely on.
The organization says it remains focused on helping vulnerable youth find stability and hope close to home.
