The familiar sound of jingling bells returns this weekend as the Mississippi Rideau Lakes Salvation Army launches its annual Kettle Campaign in Smiths Falls, Perth, and Carleton Place.
Kickoff events take place this morning (Friday) at 10 a.m. at Walmart in Smiths Falls and Barnabe’s in Perth, followed by Carleton Place’s launch Saturday at 10 a.m. at Walmart.
Coordinator Jackie Staples says this year’s fundraising goal is $265,000.
Staples adds that every dollar stays local.
Donations will support emergency food and clothing programs, fire relief, summer camps for children, and weekly lunches in Smiths Falls.
Applications for Christmas support are open until November 28 in Smiths Falls and November 27 in Perth.
Residents can call Jody at 613-283-5351 for Smiths Falls or 613-466-0632 for Perth to book an appointment.
Staples says the community’s generosity makes all the difference — helping families in need across the region year-round.
