Any discussion on the Highland Line Pit application which was scheduled for the November 25th meeting of Lanark Highlands Council committee has been cancelled, as the applicant, Thomas Cavanagh Construction, has filed an appeal with the Ontario Land Tribunal.
Ontario planning regulations stipulate a 90 day limit for municipalities to make any decisions on land-use matters once an application has been deemed complete and filed. Council and staff will be unable to comment on the application now that it is in the hands of the Tribunal. No dates have been set for either mediation or a formal hearing.
Following the public meeting on September 11, the Township had scheduled the proposal to be discussed at the Committee meeting on October 14. The Township updated the community on October 9 that the applicant would be providing additional information and the Planner’s final report would be presented to the November 25th meeting for discussion and proceed to Council for a final decision on December 9.
We’ll keep you updated as developments progress.
