A Canada-Ukraine flag flies in Smiths Falls as a show of support
Smiths Falls is encouraging residents to help spread kindness this holiday season by sending Christmas cards to the community’s twinning city of Zolochiv, Ukraine.
The Smiths Falls Equity For All Committee has launched a simple but meaningful initiative, inviting people to write warm holiday messages and drop off cards at Town Hall. Officials say a friendly note or homemade card can help strengthen international connections and remind families in Zolochiv that Smiths Falls is thinking of them during a difficult time.
Cards can be delivered to the Town Hall reception desk until November 25 at 4 p.m. The committee says all ages are welcome to take part, and both handmade and store-bought cards are accepted.
The goal is to send a wave of goodwill overseas and brighten the season for people facing ongoing challenges. Organizers say it’s a chance for Smiths Falls to share compassion, friendship and a little extra holiday cheer, one card at a time.
