Smiths Falls Police say a disturbance inside a local department store on November 11 quickly escalated into an arrest and multiple charges.
Officers were called after staff reported a customer causing problems. Police arrived and located the suspect inside the store, taking her into custody without further incident.
Following the investigation, 43-year-old Jennifer Gemmill of Smiths Falls was charged with assaulting a peace officer, obstructing a peace officer, and causing a disturbance. Police say the accused was later released from custody on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
Officers are reminding residents that any behaviour that threatens public safety or interferes with police action will lead to serious charges.
