The Merrickville Lions Club says support is urgently needed at this weekend’s RCL Automotive Build a Mountain of Food as volunteers work to fill this year’s Christmas Hampers for families across the community.
Lions Club member Mark Scullino says donations of all kinds are appreciated, but non-perishable food, the pre-packed $10 bags at the Merrickville Food Market, and monetary gifts will make the biggest impact.
The Lions will be stationed at the Build a Mountain of Food van, where residents can drop off items or contribute cash. Scullino says the flexibility of monetary donations helps volunteers buy exactly what’s missing as hamper packing day approaches.
He says the need continues to grow, and every contribution — big or small — helps ensure local families have a full holiday table.
Scullino says the club is grateful for the community’s ongoing generosity and hopes to see strong support in the final push.
The RCL Build a Mountain of Food rolls into Merrickville on Saturday at 1 in front of the Merrickville Foodmart.
It will also be in Portland from 9 until noon in front of the RCB and LCBO.
