The Perth and Smiths Falls District Hospital Foundation is urging the community to step up this holiday season as demand grows for lifesaving hospital equipment not covered by government funding.
Foundation Chair Christine Fair says many residents don’t realize every stretcher, bed and diagnostic tool is paid for entirely through community donations.
This year’s priority list is significant. The hospital needs 10 defibrillators at $20,000 each, four ventilators costing $32,000 apiece, and new stretchers at $6,000 each. Fair says having the right tools in the right hands is essential.
A major focus of the holiday campaign is monthly giving. Fair says even small, automatic donations can transform local health care.
