Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow says the 2026 budget has a record-setting dollar amount of capital projects on the docket.
The budget remains in early stages and that total figure may be whittled down further.
Pankow says the budget will have a tax levy increase due to rising costs of living.
He says they’re aiming to keep the levy below 5% as neighbouring municipalities have a similar target.
The mayor said provincial and federal grant programs, as well as money from the 2025 budget and some from reserves could help cover a portion of the bill.
