The Town of Carleton Place is preparing for the 2026 municipal election, with nominations opening on the first business day of May.
Residents interested in running for office must file their nomination papers in person or through an agent at the municipal Clerk’s Office. Forms must include the required declaration signed by at least 25 eligible supporters and be submitted during regular office hours from early May until Thursday, August 20, 2026. Additional filing hours will be available on Nomination Day, Friday, August 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The filing fee is $200 for Mayor and $100 for all other positions, payable by cash, debit, certified cheque, money order, or another electronic method specified by the Clerk.
Carleton Place voters will elect:
- Mayor (1)
- Deputy Mayor (1)
- Councillors (5)
