The Smiths Falls Police Service says it’s ready to help keep this weekend’s Santa Claus Parade safe and running smoothly as thousands of families line local streets for the annual event.
Constable Sean Keogan says officers will be stationed throughout the parade route, using rolling roadblocks and traffic control to manage the flow of vehicles and protect spectators.
The parade begins Saturday at 5 p.m., leaving the arena and moving up Elmsley Street, along Beckwith Street to Brockville Street, before finishing at Settlers Ridge Mall.
Keogan says safety is the top priority as crowds gather along the route.
He adds that officers will reopen roads as soon as the parade passes each point to limit delays for drivers not attending.
Keogan says public notices about temporary closures and barricades will be issued ahead of time, and the goal is simple: ensure everyone enjoys a fun, safe night in downtown Smiths Falls.
