The Lanark County Angel Tree program is being called another strong success, thanks to widespread community generosity.
Organizers say the annual program helped make Christmas brighter for many children and young people across the county. Angel Trees were set up in local businesses and agencies, as well as at OPP detachments in Perth and Carleton Place and the OPP East Region Headquarters.
The volume of donations was so large that Family and Children’s Services of Lanark, Leeds and Grenville had to use multiple spaces inside its building to sort and organize the gifts. Photos shared by organizers show rooms filled with presents collected through the program.
Police say partnerships with community organizations are essential to the Angel Tree’s success and allow families to be supported year after year.
Thanks were extended to everyone who donated, along with members of the Lanark OPP and Lanark OPP Auxiliary for their continued dedication. Special recognition was also given to Chloe Looyen, the program coordinator at Family and Children’s Services.
Organizers say the outpouring of support highlights the strong spirit of giving across Lanark County and wish everyone a Merry Christmas.
