The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Lanark Highlands Township resident with impaired driving after a late-night call.
Police say officers responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint just after 2 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, on Maberly Elphin Road in Lanark Highlands Township. The vehicle was parked and running when officers arrived.
The driver was arrested at the scene and taken to the OPP detachment in Perth for further testing.
As a result of the investigation, 19-year-old Quinn Sweeney has been charged with operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams, and operation while impaired by alcohol.
Police say the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, Jan. 12, 2026.
The individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days under an administrative suspension, and the vehicle involved was impounded for seven days. Police remind motorists to plan.
