An 18-year-old male from Mississippi Mills Township has died following a single-vehicle collision near Pakenham late Monday night.
Lanark County OPP say officers were called to the 8th Concession of South Pakenham, near Cedar Hill Sideroad, shortly before midnight on December 15.
Police say one passenger was trapped inside the vehicle, while the driver and another passenger were able to get out. Mississippi Mills Fire Department crews freed the trapped individual.
Despite life-saving efforts by Lanark County Paramedics, the 18-year-old was pronounced deceased a short time later. The two other occupants were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
OPP have arrested and charged a 17-year-old male with impaired operation causing death, impaired operation causing bodily harm, and operating with a blood-alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
The accused was released from custody with conditions and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Perth in January.
