Mental health supports at the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario were in focus at the board’s December 16 meeting.
Mental Health Lead Strategist Selina Mackie and Head Psychologist Dr. Krista Kiiffner presented details on how programming is delivered under the Mental Health and Addictions Strategy for 2025 to 2028.
The strategy aligns with the board’s multi-year strategic plan, Ministry of Education requirements, and School Mental Health Ontario’s provincial framework. It includes a multi-tiered system of supports, mental health literacy for staff, students, and families, suicide prevention protocols, and strong partnerships with community agencies serving children and youth.
The board says programming is data-driven, shaped by input from multiple stakeholders, and carried out through an annual action plan focused on evidence-based and responsive supports.
