Dinosaurs, artificial intelligence, math and writing are coming together in classrooms across the Upper Canada District School Board through a new series of interactive learning experiences.
Launched earlier this month, Dino Dig Disaster for Grade 3 students and AI Gone Rogue for Grade 6 students use video-based activities to strengthen math and writing skills while supporting EQAO-style thinking. The activities are inspired by escape rooms and combine problem-solving questions with writing tasks and interactive video elements.
UCDSB says the goal is to make learning fun while building strong math reasoning skills. Vice-principal of curriculum and assessment Rob Scott said the approach is designed to be easy for teachers to use without extra support.
The activities align with the Ontario curriculum and encourage math conversations, multiple problem-solving strategies and real-world connections. The lessons can be sent directly to schools and used flexibly in classrooms.
Additional activities are being developed for Grades 2, 4 and 5, creating a reusable bank of resources for future students.
