Municipal offices across the region will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day as the holiday season rolls on.
Federal and provincial offices, including Service Canada and Service Ontario, will also shut their doors for the holidays, giving staff a well-earned break.
For shoppers, the LCBO and Beer Stores will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The good news is that beer, wine and ready-to-drink beverages will still be available at many convenience stores during that time.
Grocery stores are expected to stay open on Christmas Eve but will close for Christmas Day. Most retail shops and restaurants will also wrap up early on Christmas Eve before reopening on Boxing Day.
Residents are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid last-minute surprises, whether it’s picking up groceries, gifts or holiday treats.
Emergency services will continue to operate as usual throughout the holidays. People are advised to check local schedules for public transit and other services, as holiday hours may vary.
With a little planning, the holidays can stay merry and bright.
