Strong southwesterly, shifting to northwesterly, wind gusts of up to 70 kilometres per hour are expected today, easing later tonight.
The winds are forecast to turn northwesterly this afternoon as a cold front moves through the region.
With significant ice build-up from freezing rain already in place, the strong winds could lead to additional impacts. Utility outages are possible, along with potential damage to trees and property.
Residents are advised to secure loose objects and use caution, particularly in areas where ice-laden branches or power lines may be vulnerable to strong gusts.
