Brockville police have charged a 49-year-old Brockville teacher following a historical sexual assault investigation.
Police say Elizabeth Doncaster faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and sexual exploitation. The allegations involve a male student and are linked to incidents alleged to have occurred between 2008 and 2011.
Investigators say Doncaster was held for a show cause hearing and later released.
A court appearance is scheduled in the new year.
Police say there is concern there may be additional victims and are urging anyone with information to contact Detective Graham Coe at 613-342-0127, ext. 2073.
In a message sent to families, Thousand Islands Secondary School principal Laura Oliver confirmed the school was informed of the charges. She said when the school board becomes aware of allegations of this nature, immediate precautions are taken, including removing the staff member from the school and from working with students.
Police stress the charges have not been proven in court and the accused is presumed innocent.
