In Smiths Falls, the Lions Club hosts a New Year’s Eve party today from 3 p.m. until midnight at Lions Hall on Abbott Street South. It’s a non-alcoholic, community-wide celebration, with light lunch items available by donation.
The Civitan Club of Perth also hosts a New Year’s Eve gathering at 6787 County Road 43, featuring live music and a light lunch. More details are available from Jane Scott.
And the Perth Legion welcomes in the New Year with a dance. Light appetizers are served from 8 to 9, dancing follows with music by Three 2 Go, plus draws for three one-hundred-dollar gift certificates.

The Smiths Falls Legion is hosting its New Year’s Day Levee tomorrow at noon at 7 Main Street East. Doors and the bar open at 12, awards are handed out at 1, with live music, door prizes, and a light meal served at 5. Admission is free.
Also tomorrow, the Perth Legion hosts the 32nd annual Polar Bear Plunge fundraiser. Events run from 7 in the morning until noon, with a breakfast available.
The plunge into the Tay River happens at 10 a.m. Proceeds support Perth-Upon-Tay Legion Branch 244 as it marks its 100th anniversary. Registration details are at rcl244.com.

Both the CCHL and EOJHL are on Christmas holiday break.
Perth and Carleton Place play again Friday and Saturday in the EOJHL, with the CCHL Canadians return to action January Sunday and Smiths Falls plays Tuesday.
