Ontario Provincial Police say one person is dead following a snowmobile collision east of Franktown.
Lanark County OPP were called to a location near Brunton Sideroad shortly before 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026.
Police say a family member found the man on private property and began life-saving measures until paramedics and officers arrived at the scene.
Investigators say the man had been operating a snowmobile when it collided with a parked trailer. He suffered serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The deceased has been identified as a 50-year-old man from the local area. His name has not been released.
The investigation is being led by the Lanark County OPP, with assistance from a Technical Collision Investigation officer from the OPP’s Traffic Incident Management Enforcement team.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and are reminding snowmobile riders to use caution, especially during overnight hours and low-visibility conditions.
