Christmas decorations may be packed away, but real Christmas tree clean-up is now underway across the region.
In Smiths Falls, residents are asked to place real Christmas trees at the curb by 7 a.m. on January 12. All decorations must be removed. Town officials say artificial trees will not be collected. Pick-ups will take place throughout the week, but weather conditions could cause delays.
In Perth, Christmas tree collection runs from January 12 to 16. Residents are reminded not to place trees at the curb before January 12 to allow snow removal and sidewalk crews to do their work. Trees must be stripped of all decorations. Trees can also be dropped off for free at the Perth Landfill Site with proof of residency.
Meanwhile, Carleton Place continues curbside collection of natural Christmas trees until January 16. No waste stickers are required, but trees must be free of decorations.
Residents are encouraged to check local notices for updates if poor weather affects collection schedules.
