The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a Perth resident with impaired driving.
Police say they received a report from a member of the public on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, about a vehicle being driven erratically in the Town of Perth. A short time later, officers stopped the vehicle after observing it travelling at a high rate of speed just before 7:45 a.m. on County Road 511 in Drummond–North Elmsley Township.
The driver was arrested and taken to the OPP detachment in Perth for testing.
As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Owen Cardiff of Perth has been charged with two counts of impaired operation, including driving with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, February 2, 2026. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
