A Smiths Falls man is facing several charges after police responded to a reported disturbance inside a residence earlier this month.
Smiths Falls Police Service say officers were called to a home on January 4, 2026, after receiving a 9-1-1 call reporting a disturbance. By the time police arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene.
Investigators continued to look into the incident and, the following day, obtained a warrant for the suspect’s arrest. Police say the warrant was executed on January 5 at the suspect’s residence, where the individual was taken into custody without further incident.
As a result of the investigation, 36-year-old Benjamin Duhamel of Smiths Falls has been charged with mischief under $5,000, theft under $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000. He is also charged with two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
Police say the accused was held in custody pending a bail court hearing.
