The Alzheimer Society Lanark Leeds Grenville invites you to participate in this year’s Alzheimer Awareness Month. There are approximately 4,000 people living with dementia in Lanark, Leeds, and Grenville. Sarah Cavanagh with the Society tells us there’s plenty of events starting with an information session in Carleton Place
Also in Carleton Place on January 14th, they’re are hosting a free 2-hour session on Estate Planning 101 with a panel of experts. Sarah has the details.
Preregistration is required by emailing Sarah at scavanagh@alzllg.ca. As part of the National Day of Action on January 28 to spark visibility and community engagement the Society is offering free Dementia Friendly Communities training in person at their Smiths Falls office (179 Elmsley St. N., Unit 155) or virtually via zoom at 10am or 6pm. Sarah tells us of the focus of this training
The theme of this year’s Awareness Month is Forget No One. People with dementia and their care partners have the right to live well in the community, together. As more people are diagnosed with dementia every year and choose to live at home, we all need to determine how we can better support people living with dementia. To learn more, go to alzllg.ca
