Lanark-Frontenac MP Scott Reid’s continuing his call for AEDs in RCMP cruisers.
Reid has advocated for the installation each year in the House of Commons, which he says could save an estimated 300 lives per year.
Reid rallied the fundraiser which led to the Smiths Falls Police Service having defibrillators installed in 2005, and says there’s no reason modern day cruisers cant accommodate the devices.
Reid doesn’t see this as a party issue and said he’s hoping someone steals his idea if it meant making progress.
His renewed calls come following a report of an upcoming RCMP rebrand being priced around $24 million.
Reid says he has no opinion on the rebranding, but argues the better bang for your buck is spending around $17 million for the AEDs.
