Perth and Smiths Falls businesses are now operating under a new recycling system as a provincial program takes effect across Ontario in 2026.
Commercial properties are no longer included in the town’s regular curbside recycling service, and the Town of Smiths Falls has already partnered with Glenview Iron and Metal to make sure collections continue without interruption.
Under the new setup, recycling is picked up every Wednesday. Fibre materials in blue boxes or totes and containers in black or yellow boxes remain on a bi-weekly schedule.
Businesses are asked to have all recycling placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on Wednesdays so crews can complete their routes on time.
Town officials say the change keeps Smiths Falls in line with provincial rules while protecting local recycling services.
Businesses that still need to register, or that have questions about the new program, are encouraged to contact town staff.
