Big Brothers Big Sisters Lanark County is renewing its call for volunteers, saying community support is essential as demand for youth programs continues to grow.
Executive Director Jennifer Miller says volunteers are the backbone of the organization, helping keep mentoring programs, youth supports, and fundraising operations running across the region.
Miller says the agency is in particular need of help at its thrift stores in Perth and Smiths Falls, which play a major role in funding local programs.
Miller says volunteer opportunities also include mentoring children in local schools, with time commitments starting at as little as one hour per week. Miller adds that small commitments can make a big difference for children and families under increasing pressure.
The organization’s annual Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser is also underway, with events later this month in Carleton Place, Perth, and Smiths Falls.
