Smiths Falls police say a wanted woman was located and arrested during a proactive patrol earlier this month.
Officers were on routine patrol on January 7 when they identified a suspect who was wanted on a bench warrant. Police took the woman into custody without incident.
The accused is a 32-year-old woman from Smiths Falls. She was wanted for failing to appear in court in connection with earlier intimate partner violence charges.
Police say there were no safety concerns during the arrest and no injuries were reported.
Following her arrest, the woman was later released from custody. She has been given a new scheduled court date to answer to the outstanding charges.
Police continue to remind the public that proactive patrols are an important part of community safety. Officers regularly monitor neighbourhoods and follow up on outstanding warrants as part of their ongoing work.
