Farmers in our listening area may be getting a boost from the feds and province.
The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing up to $20 million in the Market Diversification and Trade Resiliency Initiative to help farmers, food processors, and agribusinesses sell more Ontario-grown products worldwide.
The funding will support projects to increase competitiveness and expand into new markets as part of the province’s plan to protect the agribusiness sector.
The initiative will open for applications on February 17, 2026, and will offer funding for projects focused on market development, product diversification, and equipment upgrades.
The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership is backing the project, which aims to strengthen the province’s $52 billion agri-food sector.
The funding will support farmers and businesses in expanding domestic and international sales and strengthening production capacity.
