Environment Canada has issued a Yellow Warning for the LanarkLeedsToday.ca listening area as heavy snow is expected to move in Sunday afternoon and continue into Monday morning.
88.1 myFM and 92.3 WOW FM will provide on air updates when available.
Forecasters say total snowfall amounts of 10 to 20 centimetres are likely, with reduced visibility at times due to falling snow and local blowing snow.
Northeasterly winds gusting between 40 and 50 kilometres an hour could create drifting and blowing snow, especially in open and exposed areas.
Travel is expected to be challenging, with roads and walkways becoming snow covered and slippery as accumulation continues.
Snow is forecast to taper to periods of light snow or flurries from west to east through Monday morning, but officials warn the morning commute could still be impacted.
Drivers are urged to slow down, leave extra following distance, and allow more time to reach their destination.
Pedestrians are also advised to use caution on sidewalks and parking lots as conditions deteriorate further.
