When Vicki Keith, Canada’s marathon swimming legend, made the decision to come to Perth to help with the Hospice Hub’s Make Waves for Hospice fundraiser, it was an easy call. She first dipped in the world of swimming as a teenager in Kingston for a fundraiser when she was inspired by the work of her mother and others to improve palliative care. She says she was struck by their passion.
She’s happy to help out another hospice cause when she will speak at a special luncheon in Perth on February 4th to kick off Make Waves for Hospice. Keith says it’s true full-circle life moment.
Keith had high praise for Perth Councillor Isabel McRae and the organizers of Make Waves, for how they made this challenge much more than just swimming laps.
Make Waves for Hospice starts at the Perth indoor pool, or the pool of your choice, on February 9th and runs until March 30th. Tickets are still available for the February 4th luncheon at Maximillians in Perth. Go to thehospicehub.ca for more details.
