Lanark Highlands Fire Services responded to a fully involved barn fire last week.
Chief Stephen Rothwell told lanarkleedstoday.ca that crews were dispatched at 10:12 a.m on January 26th, and arrived on scene by 10:28 a.m., where the barn’s roof had already collapsed.
Firefighters mounted a defensive attack to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. All crews cleared the scene by 3 p.m.
BBDNE Fire Station assisted through mutual aid, providing a tanker and additional personnel.
The homeowner told fire officials multiple goats died in the fire, but the ponies were able to escape.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimate has been released.
