The Mississippi River Health Alliance is marking the one-year anniversary of the Thomas Cavanagh Emergency Department at Carleton Place & District Memorial Hospital, celebrating a year of improved care for patients and families across the region.
Since opening January 29, 2025, the purpose-built Emergency Department has supported nearly 20,000 patient visits. The modern facility was designed to improve patient flow, privacy, and clinical efficiency while supporting both current and future healthcare needs.
MRHA President and CEO Brad Harrington says the milestone reflects more than a new building.
“This milestone is about much more than a new facility — it’s about how that space is being used every day to support patients and the teams who care for them,” Harrington said. “Over the past year, the Thomas Cavanagh Emergency Department has demonstrated exactly why this investment mattered.”
The project was funded through a combination of provincial investment and community support raised through the Healthy Futures. Together! campaign, led by the CPDMH Foundation and Campaign Cabinet.
