One person is facing multiple charges following a firearms investigation in Sharbot Lake.
Ontario Provincial Police say the East Region Community Street Crime Unit began investigating firearms-related allegations over the winter. An individual was arrested in late January following a firearms-related incident and remains in custody.
As part of the ongoing investigation, officers executed a search warrant Tuesday at a residence on Wagner Road in Sharbot Lake. Police seized several firearms, two of which were loaded, along with a large quantity of unidentified capsules.
A 35-year-old Sharbot Lake man is charged with numerous firearms offences, including careless storage, unauthorized possession, trafficking in firearms, possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm, and tampering with a firearm serial number.
Police say the charges are in addition to those laid in connection with the earlier incident.
The accused is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice on February 13. His identity is not being released to protect the identity of a victim involved in the earlier incident.
