Scott Reid is urging residents to oppose the proposed ALTO high-speed rail project, saying it would cost billions and harm communities across eastern Ontario.
In a video posted to his Facebook Page, Reid says both the proposed south route through South Frontenac and the north route through North Frontenac would pass through the riding but offer little benefit to local residents.
He says most residents would still need to drive to reach the service and would instead face land disruption.
Reid also warns federal legislation would allow sweeping land powers.
He says ALTO could repeat the mistake of Pickering Airport, where land was never returned. Reid is asking residents to sign a petition to stop the project before expropriations and work bans begin.
