A 17-year-old from Mississippi Mills Township is facing multiple charges after a reported impaired driving incident in Carleton Place early Thursday morning.
The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police says officers were called to Industrial Road just after 2:30 a.m. following a traffic complaint about a possible impaired driver.
Police located the vehicle in a ditch and spoke with the driver before making an arrest and transporting him to the local detachment for testing.
The teen is charged with impaired operation over the legal limit, disobeying a court order, driving without a licence and careless driving.
Police say the accused was released from custody and will appear in Ontario Youth Court at a later date.
As part of the roadside consequences, the driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
Police are reminding residents to report suspected impaired driving to help keep roads safe this winter.
