With Family Day being marked across Ontario on Monday, many people in the region will notice a quieter-than-usual start to the week.
Several businesses and public services are taking part in the holiday, giving families a chance to spend time together and enjoy local activities.
Most grocery stores are either closed for the day or operating on reduced holiday hours. Residents are being reminded to check with their local store before heading out, as opening times can vary by location.
Alcohol sales are also affected by the holiday. LCBO and Beer Store locations are closed on Family Day. However, many convenience stores and grocery stores that normally sell alcohol may still be open, depending on their individual holiday schedules.
Banks and post offices are also closed for the holiday, which means in-person banking services and mail counter service will resume on Tuesday.
Municipal offices across the county are closed as well, but not everything is shut down. Several local recreation facilities, including arenas and community centres, are still operating with holiday programming.
Residents are encouraged to check municipal websites or social media pages for updated hours before heading out.
