Residents of Lanark County who are facing housing insecurity may be eligible for support through the Housing Assistance Program, also known as HAP.
The program provides both financial and non-financial assistance to individuals and families who are experiencing rental or utility arrears, are at immediate risk of losing their housing, or
are currently homeless. Its goal is to help eligible residents obtain or maintain safe and affordable housing.
Through the program, applicants may qualify for up to $1,500 in assistance per fiscal year, which runs from April to March. Funding can help cover rent deposits, past-due or current utility bills, rent or mortgage payments, and property taxes. The program can also provide hygiene kits and emergency food cards to those in need.
Residents interested in applying must meet eligibility requirements and book an appointment to begin the process. Appointments can be scheduled by calling 613-267-4200, extension 2140.
