While it may not be Hollywood North like Toronto, Carleton Place is becoming popular enough as a movie location that Council’s committee voted to adopt a filming policy at their recent meeting. From independent features to Hallmark romance movies, the Town is becoming increasingly popular as a film backdrop and shooting location.
Staff told councillors the policy is simply a set of guidelines to let film producers know what to expect when working in Town and how to minimize traffic and other disruptions. The policy includes new fees such as a filming permit fee of $250, and film security deposits of $1,000 which may change depending on whether special effects will be used.
Facility and parks’ rentals will be levied as per existing fees and charges.
The committee’s approval goes to the next full council meeting for ratification.
