On Family Day, the Lanark County Foodbank’s cargo van was taken from the parking lot at the Carleton Place arena.
It was there dropping off empty boxes for organizers of the Comicon event to fill with donated non-perishable food. Foodbank staff quickly posted the incident on their social media pages with a picture of the van.
That post was almost instantly shared by several residents with large numbers of followers like CP councillor Linda Seccaspina, Mayor Toby Randell, and others.
Foodbank Manager Tammy Parent tells us how rapidly things progressed to a happy ending.
The community’s support didn’t end there, as while the search for the van went on, others stepped up with incredible offers.
As with most foodbanks, Lanark County’s Hunger Stop continues to see an increase in demand. They served over 1,800 people per month last year. Find out how you can help at lanarkcountyfoodbank.ca
