A popular charity bowling event brought smiles and strong community support to Lanark County over the weekend.
The Tim Hortons Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County drew participants to bowling alleys in Smiths Falls and Perth on Saturday.
The event is the organization’s premier “fun-raising” campaign that invites teams of friends, families and co-workers to bowl together while raising money for local mentoring programs.
The event raised over $85,000 for local mentoring programs, with more than 400 bowlers taking part.
Executive Director Jennifer Miller said the day is always filled with laughter while supporting an important cause.
Smiths Falls Mayor Shawn Pankow was among those taking part in the community fundraiser.
The campaign began earlier in the week with a kickoff event in Carleton Place.
Organizers thanked sponsors, bowlers, donors and volunteers for helping make the fundraiser a success.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lanark County continues to seek volunteer mentors to support local youth as well as volunteers for their Jewels thrift shops.
