Michael Barrett is against the proposed Alto high-speed rail project which would cut through the riding.
The train would allow users to travel from Montreal to Toronto in three hours, using a dedicated track that would be protected by high fencing.
The Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands-Rideau Lakes MP spoke in the House of Commons for nearly 15 minutes, highlighting his objections.
Barrett said the train cuts through local communities, that won’t even benefit from the finished project.
Barrett said this is the most feedback he’s ever received from his constituents on any issue.
He joins Lanark-Frontenac MP Scott Reid and MPP Steve Clark in vocal opposition to the proposal.
