Lesley Renwick of the Hospice Hub with Bill Elgie, one of the participants in Waves for Hospice at the Perth indoor pool
Waves for Hospice, a new fundraiser for the Hospice Hub is in the final half of its seven-week run. LanarkLeedsToday caught up with one of the participants, Bill Elgie, at the Perth indoor pool to find out how he was progressing towards his goal.
Bill learned of Waves through a family friend and thought the idea of helping out in the water was a perfect match for him.
When asked why he thought it was important to support the Hospice Hub, Elgie spoke of the deaths of his mother and father-in-law 10 years ago in Oakville and how a hospice facility there made a major and positive impact in their end-of-life journey as well as supporting their families.
Lesley Renwick with the Hospice Hub, reports that they have surpassed the half-way point towards their goal of raising $20K and welcome anyone who still wants to get in the swim of things to help out. Elgie said he quickly surpassed his original goal and had to revise it.
Waves for Hospice involves lap and family swims and aquafit classes and there’s still time before the fundraiser ends on March 31st to support this very worthwhile cause. Check out all the details at thehospicehub.ca.
