Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital has received national accreditation in echocardiography, confirming its heart imaging services meet strict Canadian standards.
The certification was awarded by Accreditation Canada Diagnostics through its Echocardiography Quality Improvement Program. It recognizes the hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging department for meeting national standards for transthoracic echocardiography — a non-invasive ultrasound used to assess heart structure and function.
Hospital officials say the test is one of the most common cardiac diagnostics in community hospitals and plays a key role in detecting and managing heart conditions.
President and CEO Brad Harrington of the Mississippi River Health Alliance says the accreditation reflects the expertise and dedication of staff and a commitment to safe, high-quality care.
For residents of Carleton Place and nearby communities, the designation means patients can access advanced cardiac imaging close to home rather than travelling to larger centres.
The certificate was issued in December 2025 and remains valid until November 2029.
