In a recent social media post, federal Liberal candidate for Lanark-Frontenac, Michelle Foxton has provided her view of the preferred route for the planned Alto high-speed rail line between Quebec City and Toronto.
She’s been attending various Alto open houses and spoken to a large number of area residents along with municipal leaders about their concerns with the project’s potential of cutting through the region and disrupting businesses, agriculture operations, local transportation links, and the environment.
She said the best route is clear.
Foxton also addressed the position put forward that the funds required to build the line could be better spent elsewhere.
She indicated her next steps would involve a meeting with the federal Minister of Transport.
Foxton came in second in the 2025 federal election with 30,900 votes against Conservative Scott Reid’s 34,186.
