A plan to create a Commemorative Veteran’s Crosswalk has gained momentum after a major offer from a veteran-owned company.
Project organizer Don Rideout says the Ottawa-area business has agreed to provide paint, templates and labour at a drastically reduced cost. The company asked to remain anonymous for now.
Rideout had sought additional quotes after receiving an initial estimate from town hall.
He says money already raised through donations will go toward the work, with fundraising continuing to cover future maintenance and upkeep of the crosswalk.
Rideout calls the offer, “The power of the Veteran community of Brothers and Sisters on full display!”
The project aims to create a permanent tribute that residents can see and use every day.
Organizers say raffles and donations will continue as planning moves forward, with supporters hopeful the crosswalk will become a lasting symbol of remembrance and community pride.
