A simple cup of coffee is helping strengthen bonds among those who served.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 95 in Smiths Falls will host a Veterans Coffee on Friday, March 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at 7 Main Street East.
The drop-in event welcomes active and retired military members, RCMP and families. Organizers say Legion membership is not required to attend.
The gathering takes place on the final Friday of each month and continues to grow.
The Legion’s Ken Manwell says attendance has steadily increased as word spreads that the event is open to all veterans.
Organizers say the relaxed setting encourages conversation, with chairs often arranged in a horseshoe so participants can share experiences and memories from their service.
Manwell says volunteers also help ensure everyone ho wants to attend, can.
Organizers say the goal is simple: connection, support and a welcoming place for veterans and their families.
The coffee is a monthly event, taking place on the final Friday of every month.
