The two Smiths Falls Bears hockey teams are surging deep into the playoffs after a pair of impressive victories.
The Smiths Falls Jr. Bears punched their ticket to the Barkley Cup with a decisive 10–3 win in Game 4, sweeping Renfrew out of the Richardson Division Final. The team will face either Casselman or the Jr. Senators in the championship series. Casselman currently leads that matchup three games to one and could soon become the Jr. Bears’ opponent.
Meanwhile, the Smiths Falls Bears of the Central Canada Hockey League tightened their grip on their own playoff series. They defeated the Brockville Braves 6–2 to take a three-games-to-none lead in the quarterfinal.
The Bears now have a chance to close out the series Thursday night in Brockville. A victory would send them to the next round and extend what has already been an impressive postseason run for Smiths Falls hockey.
